Music Collaborations I Would Practically Kill For

Throughout my time writing this blog, I have written about various artist collaborations that I found to be interesting, unusual, or absolutely phenomenal. However, I have been thinking quite a bit about artist collaborations we have yet to experience that I just know would be music gold. This is a topic I could probably write more than one blog post about, so I’m going to share my current top four dream collaborations that I cannot stop thinking about.

Stevie Nicks & Florence Welch

This first dream collaboration is what initially got this thought process started for me. As a big fan of both of these amazing women, and having seen them both perform live, I cannot even begin to express how spectacular this collaboration has the potential to be. I honestly am surprised they haven’t collaborated on a song before and even had to Google it to make sure, especially since they have both expressed that they are fans of each other. This duo would be the ultimate witchy, hippie, boho, etherial match up and all the girlies would go wild for it. I believe that both of their songwriting abilities would complement each other so well, as will their vocals being able to covey the perfect sort of yearning sound that both of them achieve so well. Outside of their actual vocals, they would also be a dream to just watch perform from the flowing witchy dresses to the stage presence and use of tambourines. Seriously, these two are a musical match made in heaven and I am practically begging for this to happen.

Post Malone & Sturgill Simpson

For those of you who are frequent readers, you likely already know what a huge Sturgill Simpson fan I am, however, I also enjoy a good amount of Post Malone’s music. Lately, I have come across a few videos of Post Malone playing country songs, whether it be a random video of him at a house party, or even the performances he did with Dwight Yoakam’s band. During one of the performances with Dwight Yoakam’s band, he actually covered a Sturgill Simpson song and that instantly made me realize what a great paring the two of them would make. Although I am very much aware that Post Malone has made his career as a rapper, that man actually has quite the versatility. Naturally, most people could say that any man with a good singing voice could do a good country song justice, however, I believe that him collaborating with Sturgill will ensure they keep that gritty, outlaw country edge that many of us love. Sturgill has also been very outspoken about pop country and doing things his own way, while also helping produce other great country artists, like Tyler Childers, so I think he would be the best person to work with Post Malone in that genre. I really have a feeling that we will get a Post Malone country album sometime during his career.

Adele & Jennifer Hudson

Now I will be honest, the thought of this collaboration almost seems too powerful to even consider, but I get chills just thinking about what they could deliver together. Personally, I consider both Adele and Jennifer Hudson to be some of the best vocalists of our generation and they both can sing the hell out of a ballad. Another factor that made me consider this collaboration a bit more is the sound of Adele’s most recent album, 30. In that album, Adele featured a bit more soul and R&B influences and we all know J.Hud embodies soul music through and through. Seriously, can you imagine the type of ballad these two could perform?! We are not worthy! Not only do the both of them make up some of the greatest vocalists of our time, they both have such great personalities that even just having them talk and interact with each other would be a pleasure to witness. If these two women were to collab, I just know it would be astounding.

Lana Del Rey & Hope Sandoval

I am sure most of you know who Lana Del Rey is, however, in case you needed a refresher of who Hope Sandoval is, she was the lead singer of the band Mazzy Star. Unfortunately, Mazzy Star no longer performs as a band due to the passing of David Roback and Keith Mitchell. Although Mazzy Star is no longer an active band, Hope Sandoval is still making music. Hope Sandoval and Lana Del Rey both have such hauntingly beautiful voices that make you feel as if you are floating away into space. I can totally imagine the both of them harmonizing together on a track that would be perfect for a night drive while you are in your feels, or even a tender love song that hit rights to the bone. Lana Del Rey’s music means so much to me and I respect her creative musical mind to know that she would work so well with Hope Sandoval. This would seriously be the dreamiest collaboration and the perfect opportunity to introduce Hope Sandoval to younger audiences.

My gosh, I can only hope that at least one of these parings comes true, but all four would be pure art if they actually happened. Let me know what artist collaborations you’d love to see!
